Update from Ethiopia =)

I received another e-mail from Em today that she asked me to post. Sounds like everything is going super well! I can't wait to see pictures of the new family!!!

So we got to take our sweet Mosey home on valentines as we had hoped. He fell asleep on the car ride home in the ergo with mike. When he woke up in our room you could just see the panic on his face. He is so wide-eyed right now. You can tell that all the new stimulus is really tiring for him. But after a brief cry we were able to calm him down with a bottle and i think he is enjoying our company!!!

It definitely feels more real now, especially after he puked up his entire bottle on me a couple of times. It was a very tiring night as well. I think Moses did really well, we are the one's having a hard time adjusting. He woke up exactly on the schedule that his care takers gave us (10pm, 2am, 6am...). He would go back to sleep quite easily after his bottle, it was just mike and I that couldn't fall back asleep. It's pretty noisy here: dogs barking, roosters, cars, birds, etc etc. Reminds me so much of sleeping in the Philippines. Plus the jet lag has us up super early and very hungry and then ready for bed at around 4pm every night.

This morning we took him to his first Ethiopian church service. It was really good, but he slept through the whole thing! It was a protestant church that our driver Solomon goes to. Next Sunday we are going to hopefully go to an Orthodox church service.

When we got back to the guesthouse we were thankfully able to switch rooms with a couple who just went back home. This room is way bigger, has a balcony, huge windows and a bigger bed. I think i would have lost my mind if i had stayed in the other room any longer. It was a tiny box with basically no windows. This room feels much more comfortable.

Hm.... what else do my blogstalkers want to know....

Details:

-He is gorgeous. You will all freak out when you see him. Seriously.

-He has gorgeous little curls

-Sorry, i can't send any pictures.

-He makes the cutest sound after he finishes his bottle

-he loves pulling on my hair and necklace

-he can't sit up

-mike saw him roll over once

-he fits his 3-6 month clothes well

-still waiting for the first poo

-I miss you guys!

-I am realizing now the truth of how a mother's job is never ending!

Thanks for all the comments! I am able to read them in my email, i just can't get onto my blog from here.

Wow, that is the most AMAZING Valentine's gift ever!! Congratulations Krabbendam family! I love all these updates. It sounds like things are going really well. I'll praying that you all adjust to these new 'roles' - and that you'll feel more well-rested (hopefully) over the next few days. Enjoy your baby boy :)

Love, Bonnie

Aw!! The best idea of love, bundled up and delivered better than a bouquet! Emily i'm sitting here sobbing- so happy for you! I'm wishing to death that I could see you as a family! and you're right... even when you are away from him, even if you got a break for a whole week... your mind is NEVER shut off from "is he on his schedule, is he sleeping? did he burp enough? does he feel safe?" you'll get used to it! it's worth it! (and you'll get used to the sleep deprivation too... sadly!) LOVE YOU LOVE YOU LOVE YOU

I am loving reading your updates from afar! I am so glad he has taken to you guys so well. Sounds like he is just as he should be, waking up every few hours, eating well, and being cute (that's their defence mechanism, especially in the middle of the night!!!)

How is Ethiopia? Is it what you expected? How is the food? How's the place you are staying?? What is your impression of the transition home and people working there? Were you able to see Elena, Eden or Kallie?
Sorry, so many questions running through my mind! I can't wait to see your photos!!! I hope the rest of your journey is a safe one and I am so so happy that the three of you are finally together. As it should be!!!!!

Advice from the bottle fed babies mom-

formula fed babies poop daily- however a few days won't hurt, especially since his little mind is experiencing so much, water, cleaning and dosage can effect regularity, it will all work out-

I bet he is so adorable, oh Emily I can not wait to see him, can't you bring him home now and stop by my place on your way back from the airport--PLEASE!

As every new mother is told--- SLEEP when your baby sleeps!

So excited to meet the little man!

Thanks for the update! I have been teary eyed a few times thinking about you three over there...
Tip: Sofia didn't poop for the first 30+ hours we had her. Don't let Moses go too long ask the driver for tips. They told us to give Sofia fruit but I'm not sure what Moses is eating.
